Clarizen recognizes the confidentiality of information that may be disclosed by members using the Site and we are committed to protect your privacy. The following provisions disclose our information gathering and dissemination practices for this Site.
1. Purpose of the Site
The Site is operated for the purpose of providing help & support for Clarizen users and project management professional information to the general internet community (the "Purpose").
2. Gathering of Information
2.1 User Provided Information: You provide certain personally identifiable information (such as your name and email address) to Clarizen when choosing to participate in various activities on the Site such as posting messages in our forums, taking advantage of promotions, responding to surveys, or subscribing to newsletters or other mailing lists.
2.2 Cookies Information: When you visit the Site, we may send one or more cookies - a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. Clarizen uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser. Persistent cookies may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser help file directions. A session cookie is temporary and disappears after you close your browser. You can reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the Site may not function properly if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.
2.3 Log File Information: When you use the Site, our servers automatically record certain information that your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser language, referring / exit pages and URLs, platform type, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, the amount of time spent on particular pages, the date and time of your request, and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.
2.4 Clear GIFs Information: When you use the Site, we may employ "clear GIFs" (a.k.a. Web Beacons) which are used to track the online usage patterns of our Users anonymously (i.e., in a non-personally-identifiable manner). In addition, we may also use clear GIFs in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened by recipients.
3. Use of Information
3.1 If you submit personally identifiable information to us through the Site, then we use your personal information to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of the Site.
3.2 Any personal or general information that you voluntarily disclose online (on discussion boards, in messages and chat areas, within your public profile page, etc.) becomes publicly available and can be collected and used by others. Your account name (not your email address) is displayed to other users when you send messages through the Site and other users can contact you through messages and comments.
3.3 We do not use your email address or other personally identifiable information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. We may, however, use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major Site changes or for customer service purposes).
3.4 We use both your personally identifiable information and certain non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymous User usage data, cookies, IP addresses, browser type, clickstream data, etc.) to improve the quality and design of the Site and to create new features, promotions, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, and analyzing user preferences and trends.
3.5 We use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Site; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information; (c) monitor the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns; (d) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.; and (e) track your entries, submissions, and status in promotions, sweepstakes, and contests.
4. Disclosure of Information
Clarizen does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide products or services you have requested or approved, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
4.1 We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
4.2 We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Clarizen's Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.
4.3 We transfer information about you if Clarizen is acquired by or merged with another company.
5. Purchases From Advertisers or Other Linked Sites
If you click away from the Site to visit the site of any third party advertiser or sponsor, you may be asked for your credit card or other personal information in order to purchase or use products and services offered. These companies have their own privacy and data collection practices. We have no responsibility or liability for these independent policies. You should therefore review their privacy policies carefully if you have concerns about how your information may be used.
6. Violation of the Terms and Conditions
While we advise our members to be sensitive to privacy issues, we have no control over the content of these posts. If such a post violates our Terms of Use, you may notify us at "report abuse" and we will help work toward resolving the issue.
