Clarizen was chosen because it was always accessible, we didn’t have to manage it onsite (server space, maintenance, troubleshooting) and the ease of start-up compared to MS Project. We also like the available customer service and quick response times.
Prior to using Clarizen we were not using a formal PM tool. Most people just created something for themselves in Excel, Access or MS Project.
We evaluated:
MS Project- Expensive, in house, maintenance and hard to start everyone off using the same functionality. Build time would take too long.
Huddle- This tool was very easy to use, but mostly dealt with collaboration no project management. Has a great calendaring functionality though.
Celoxis- This project tool was static, not online and hard to get in contact with (they are in India I think.).
We really liked Clarizen's Progress Updates via email. Partner collaboration. Always available, offsite service.
Really we were looking for these requirements:
1. Every project used the same tool and template.
2. Track resources across all projects.
3. Track by individual employee or by role.
4. Track task at detail level.
5. Reporting, ease of use and on the fly customization.
6. User friendly.
7. Permission based Roles.
Clarizen fit all our needs while still being affordable. |
